On Thursday November 20, come and hear a talk from adventurer, author and award winning filmmaker Tom Allen, about his FREELEJOG adventure, pedalling the length of England without spending a penny.
Tom Allen is a full-time adventurer, author and filmmaker whose travels have taken him through over 40 countries on four continents.
An avid cycle tourer, Tom particularly favours destinations giving him the best chance of adventure – places like Sudan, Iran, Yemen, Syria, the Arctic, Ethiopia, Armenia and Mongolia – spending months at a time on the road, setting up home wherever he sees fit.
Rather than completing a quick lap of the planet and a pat on the back, adventuring has somehow become his full-time occupation as he shares his wealth of practical advice and tales from the road on the excellent Tom’s Bike Trip website.
His award winning 2013 film Janapar: Love on a Bike documented the true story of how he met his wife while cycling through Iran. His most recent journey – dubbed FREELEJOG - saw him cycle the length of England without any money: no cash, no cards, just working for food along the way. And all this on a bike rescued from a scrapyard and camping kit scrounged from Freecycle.
Join us for what promises to be a fascinating evening as Tom shares the tales of his FREELEJOG trip, and the many lessons he learnt along the way.
Tickets are the bargain price of just £5 (£7 on the door) and all proceeds will go towards supporting Lifecycle UK’s inclusive cycling projects. Signed copies of Tom’s critically acclaimed books and Janapar DVD will also be available on the night, with a portion of proceeds going to Lifecycle UK.
The event starts at 7.30pm. Please come earlier if you want to eat beforehand. Tickets available via this link.
