Wheel building isn’t mysterious. Anyone can build an excellent wheel to take away in around three hours. Importantly, you can also learn the skills to complete more wheels in your own time.
We teach wheel building on a one-to-one basis rather than in groups, as we think that this gives the best experience to students. We typically run sessions from 5pm to 8pm on Wednesdays or Thursdays, but if another time would suit you better please let us know and we’ll try to arrange it.
You’ll build one wheel during your three hour session, but will leave with the skills to complete the pair if you wish to. The session will cover spoke measurements, lacing, truing, dishing and tensioning. All equipment and tools are provided.
Tuition costs £100 for a three-hour session and includes free tea/coffee, pre-build consultation, components ordering (with a 10% discount) and a meal from the cafe.
We offer a 10% discount on any parts bought from us for the session, and on any further workshop purchases on the day. Alternatively, participants are welcome to provide their own parts and we encourage re-use where practical (spokes should not be re-used).
Finally, we provide the option to take away your own truing stand and spoke keys at the end of the day. We offer these at a 25% discount, so they’re well worth considering if you plan to build again, or true your own wheels.
You can book by emailing email@example.com, or by calling 07856 544 471. We take payment at the session by cash or debit/credit card, although we do ask that you pay for parts in advance.
Please book at least two weeks in advance in order to allow time to discuss your build and for components to be delivered.

He also offers tuition. So if you’d like to spend a whole day working one-to-one on the best equipment, particularly if you want to build high-end wheels, he’s your man.
