Alongside our continuing 20% off all D-locks, each month we put on a superb offer of really useful and/or amazing things that make riding your bike more enjoyable. This month, mudguards.
Julian Sayarer is a round-the-world cyclist. Working as a cycle courier in London, he learned that the world record for a circumnavigation had been broken in conjunction with banks and big business. Seeing this, he resolved to do things his own way and to take back the record.
On September 20 from 11.00am to 3.00pm we’ll be working with Avon and Somerset Police to offer registration with BikeRegister, the UK’s leading online bicycle identification and registration initiative. It aims to reduce cycle theft, identify stolen bikes and assist in their recovery. BikeRegister is used by every UK Police Force, and it’s free.
Kev and Sylvie (Spoke ‘n’ Chain) carry a Kamishibai theatre on the back of a big bicycle. With two clowns, they tell the story of Aaron Errant, a cyclist errant who sets out on his bike to follow his dream. They’ve returned to Bristol after a year touring Europe and we’re delighted to be hosting them on Thursday September 4.
Our upstairs meeting room, The Hub, will be transformed into a popup clothes shop for three days from Friday August 1 to Sunday August 3. Organised by Bristol Textile Recyclers, a portion of proceeds from clothes sales will go to one of our favourite charities, Labour Behind the Label.
We’ll be hosting a series of five Pilates for Cyclists classes upstairs in The Hub in early Autumn. The 90-minute sessions will take place on the following consecutive Saturdays: 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th September and 4th October, from 4.00pm to 5.30pm. The cost is £12 per 90-minute session, or £50 if you pay upfront for all five sessions.
Well would you believe it? A year has passed since we opened. And we would be very, very happy if you’d come along and celebrate that year with us at our first birthday party on the evening of Saturday July 26. We owe a lot of people a lot of thanks for helping us get this far, so we’d love to see you.
